Carrion Bloom Books – 2022 Open Reading
Period
We expect to open for submissions in Fall 2022 -- Our previous call is copied below, but some details are subject to change.
We are reading for manuscripts
of roughly 20 to 50 pages. We’re open to poetry, prose, hybrid works, and
writing with visual elements.
We’re also very
open to translated works of any genre. Please include the original work and
translation if possible.
There is no reading fee, and we
do currently pay our authors a percentage of each copy sold.
Our chapbooks are handmade in
small limited editions. The physical design and layout of the book will be created
to suit the project. You can see Paul Cunningham’s The Inmost for an
example of our general style.
We admire work of all genres
which might be described as: feminist, grotesque, ecologically resonant, too
much, formally experimental, visually acoustic, radically embodied,
transnational, or surreal (an incomplete list).
Simultaneous submissions are allowed
as long as you keep us in the loop. One submission per author per reading
period.
Submissions should be emailed as
attachments to carrionbloombooks (at) gmail (dot) com as either a pdf or word
doc. Please include a bio (for author and translator where applicable) and a cover
letter in the body of the email. Please, include an all-caps SUBMISSION in your email's subject line.
Let us know if you have any questions.
